Yup. Another podcast.

Coolit whimsically invited me to be on The Sandbox, and we talked about a bunch of weird stuff. I wouldn't recommend listening to it unless you're a huge fan of unstructured nonsense. Topics range from Darkfall account bans to Nateryl's horrible choices in MMO pre-orders. Enjoy... or more likely... tolerate:

  1. Are you going to check out ArcheAge, Miguelito? I've been playing it a bit on the Korean server, the game seems like pure quality. Open beta was announced last month, which I'm sure you're aware of.

  3. Sorry I didn't specify the open beta was announced for NA. There is no version of ArcheAge in English yet. The game has been out in Korea since January, Chinese and Japanese betas have/are launching.


    I'd write more about it but there's just too much awesome to write about here.

  4. ArcheAge always seemed like one of those "too good(korean) to be true" MMORPGs. I had Darkfallian hype levels when I first began reading about it, but it's hard to maintain. Good to hear that it might actually not be shit!


    I've been signed up for the NA beta since Trion put up the form, but haven't seen anything. Apparently I'm not important enough to merit early access...

  5. I haven't read of anyone receiving an email regarding beta access to NA. I've loosely followed the game for a long time, only recently took the plunge and tried it on KR.

  7. We probably will, its a shitty mainstream korean wow clone with little more sandbox features then dropping houses and building boats. It has a few pvp features, but they will likely all be overshadowed by instanced battlegrounds and such.

  8. Jury is out, but what I've seen is pretty sandboxy. My main concern is that the interest for a game like this is too low to merit the kind of money they spent on development. It may be epic for a year and then go the way of Ultima Online.

  9. Archage online had me riding the hype train for a while, I de-railed at the combat system. Point and click combat?!? Lets go ahead and stop the shit here. Pointing and clicking at boxes or making retardedly (is that a word?) long macros just to get the skill list to move down the rotation right is NOT fun. There is no immersion in a 42 line long macro (fuck you rift!).

  10. I think at this point I may be too jaded to be hyped about anything. Darkfall Online is probably mostly responsible.

  11. What!?! You're telling me you didn't lime the ELECTRIFYING combat and that ammmmmmazzzing user interface! LOL, ugh. I can't keep this up. I think the developer's made that game with blindfolds on. I could only stand it for a minute twenty seconds before the random uncatigorized symbols they had in microdot sequence had me mad enough to scream.
